The short history of Kristinehamn

Kristinehamn has a very long history and has been important for the Swedish economy and development. Listen to the short version by the foot of the famous Picasso Sculpture. You will hear about the city that was named after the eccentric Queen Kristina in 1642, about the lively Iron trade, the important shipping industry, the parties and the people who gathered here in the 18th century.  The tale of Georg Adlersparre, who took part in the deposition of King Gustav IV Adolf of Sweden in 1809 and lived outside Kristinehamn, is also told. To sum up you will learn how come a sculpture by Picasso ended up in Kristinehamn.
